Vexing Bright Star

Bright Star,
were I as steadfast in beauty as thou art,
Galileo's folly,
curse these lids apart,
nay curse Aphrodite's volley,
the infliction from the start,
tracing brash wisdom,
Oedipus did impart,
lest this Siren with talons,
rend both flesh and heart.
