He knows her eyes completely,
Her piercing stare,
Her arms fair skin- when lit,
Faintly covered in light brown hair,
And her perfume that distracts.
Does he not despair?
Dare the yellow fog profess to one so gentle and so fair?

Fair and Sweet Hummingbird
Fair and sweet Hummingbird,
with withered branches I yearn,
I sit restless, breathless, for your return.
I retrace your dart,
fluttering from flower to flower,
I remember your exit,
left with a bitter taste when the nectar went sour.
Alas, I can only bend and creak,
If only Boreas and Zephyr could bless me to speak,
and fly through my leaves,
then I would whisper a plea,
"Bird of Paradise, please forgive me".

My Hope
A Hades dew upon my brow,
shallow graves beneath my view,
to a shadowed horseman do I bow,
by his orders I am subdued,
the dagger in the back is black with rot,
Hope fights back 'til one day removed,
by serpent snares we are caught,
gnawing- helpless to be free,
remove the flesh that we are not,
Savior Hope- my remedy.

Trojan Heart
Trojan heart,
What a clever ruse.
Musings amuse not the muse.
Hands strike the water-
Breaking its reflection.
Cringing at the visage-
Distorted from rejection of the hearts affections.
Oh but if love were quenchable and the waters deep!
I'd hold it's hoary head beneath,
Silencing its sighs for sweet kisses on sweet cheeks.
Oh what honey laden sentiments!
"No mount too high, no valley too steep."
Beauty's words that fall shallow,
And desires not but ankle-deep.
Worry not-
The pen will stay,
The words will keep.
In the end,
The poet's heart will learn to sleep.

Strong In Spirit
I rap like writin' lyrics is simplistic,
I hit the stage and tear the mic up like I'm sadistic,
knowledge of a mystic,
let's be realistic,
God is my witness,
so I'm gonna witness,
though my flesh is listless,
I'm bench pressin' His word for spiritual fitness,
my sins are too many to list,
But God died for this misfit,
I'm in love just a mite bit,
and there's no separating us from it,
He heals my soul like a med kit,
and it's God I rhyme,
He's the only reason I spit,
there's nothing better I must admit,
and I'll stay on my grind until my throat is slit,
or I'm fed to the lions,
thrown in a pit,
'cause I'm guilty,
the punishment is fit,
But I stand here victorious,
demons hit with a crit,
not from my own mits,
but they got spiritually licked.

Streetlight Confessional
My dark ways are bright in the street light,
cornered by guilt,
I put up my fists, but I can't fight the truth.
I'm sickened at the sight of my true reflection,
self-inspection,
where's my innocence?
The little boy inside avoids detection,
it wants nothing to do with the man that lacks discretion,
I don't know where to turn,
like I've lost my directions,
but You permeate my soul,
and Your grace clears my thoughts like an effervescence,
I begin to pour out my heart to the Creator in my confessions,
all is forgiven,
and You tell me Your love for me never lessens.

Vexing Bright Star
Bright Star,
were I as steadfast in beauty as thou art,
Galileo's folly,
curse these lids apart,
nay curse Aphrodite's volley,
the infliction from the start,
tracing brash wisdom,
Oedipus did impart,
lest this Siren with talons,
rend both flesh and heart.
